Relationships can be such a beautiful thing. Having people we feel connected with, who cherish us as much as we cherish them, is such a blessing. Unity, I'm guessing, causes God to smile. This is what we were created to do - loving unity.
Isn't it heartbreaking when a relationship "breaks?" The pain and sorrow that one experiences when this happens can be so debilitating and isolating. How do we survive such heartache? What do we do when we feel like we would be better off dead?
With Christ, we have a hope that sustains us. We still feel the horror of being separated from the people we love. There is still the mourning of someone and something lost. Yet the joy of our hope gets us through the pain. God does not always spare us from the anguish (1 Thessalonians 5:3). He does promise us eternity with Him (1 Thessalonians 5:8 - 10), when we put our faith in Jesus Christ, the Son of God (John 3:16).
In everything we deal with in life, God pursues us. He tugs at our heart strings. He whispers love to our inmost being, through the beauty we experience in personal ways. An exquisite read for more about the passionate relationship God pursues with us is The Sacred Romance: Drawing Closer to the Heart of God, by Brent Curtis and John Eldridge.
Thinking about how much The Heavenly Father pursues me - little ole me - uplifts me from the fog of agony. Meditating on this love He pours on me, drenches me with gratitude and the ability to smile. It gets me through each day. When I feel unworthy, His love reminds me that I am precious. An egregious gift is His unconditional, amazing love!!
This weeks word - egregious (in the positive sense, meaning "outrageous; remarkably good").
Meditation:
Psalm 57:10, "For great is your love, reaching to the heavens; your faithfulness reaches to the skies."
Psalm 89:1 & 2, "1 I will sing of the Lord's great love forever; with my mouth I will make your faithfulness known through all generations. 2 I will declare that your love stands firm forever, that you established your faithfulness in heaven itself."
Ephesians 2:4 & 5, "4 But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, 5 made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions - it is by grace you have been saved."
**1 John 3:1, "How great is the love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are! The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know him."** (NIV)
